Vyre / Linux server

Vyre on a Linux server

Your server is where Vyre lives.

Install Vyre on a Linux machine you control. Your agents run there and keep working when your laptop is closed. Your Mac, your PC and your phone are the ways in.

What you get

A home for your agents, that you own.

  • One line, then your browserThe setup page gives you a line with a one-time code. The rest happens in a browser.
  • Checked before it runsThe installer asks before installing anything, checks what it downloads against a published signature, and pulls images by digest after their signatures are checked.
  • Updates that cannot go backwardsA box refuses an unsigned, wrongly signed, tampered or older release, and keeps running as it was. Stable never takes a test version.
  • Your name, your domainReach it at you.vyre.run, or serve it under your own domain.
  • Backup and removalExport and import a server, back up, restore, and uninstall with or without your data.
Install

Open the setup page, paste one line.

  1. Open vyre.run/setup. Choose “A Linux server”. The page shows one line with a one-time code. The code works for an hour and one server.
  2. Paste it on your server, as yourself, not as root.
    curl -fsSL https://vyre.run/i | VYRE_CODE=<your code> sh
  3. Check four words. Your server’s terminal prints four words. Press the match button on the page only if they are the same.
  4. Finish in your browser. Name the server, save your recovery code, sign in to your AI, connect Tailscale and add your phone.
What it needs
ServerA Linux machine with sudo and Docker Compose 2.24 or newer. The installer asks before adding Docker.
NetworkA Tailscale account, free plan
AIOne of Claude, Codex, Grok or OpenRouter
WhereInstalls in /srv/vyre

Known gaps in 0.2.1

  • Tailscale is required: your address only opens from devices on your tailnet.
  • The first Windows install is not signature-checked; the server install is.
  • Sleeping idle sessions by memory pressure, and many sessions on one server, come in later releases.

Questions about Vyre on a Linux server.

What server do I need?

A Linux machine you can ssh into with sudo. A small cloud machine or a spare computer both work. Docker Compose 2.24 or newer is required, and the installer offers to add Docker.

Can I use a Mac as the server?

Yes, a Mac that stays on. Choose “A Mac that stays on” on the setup page and run the same line.

How do I start over?

Run the installer with --uninstall to remove Vyre and keep your data, or add --purge to delete the vault, sign-ins and projects too.

What does vyre.run hold?

Your name’s DNS record and the relay that carries setup progress and phone pairing, end-to-end encrypted. Your sessions, memory and vault stay on your server.
